Located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, The Naturalist is a luxurious living space that seamlessly integrates nature into its design. The use of natural materials such as solid wood, marble, granite, and plants creates a sense of depth and richness throughout the home. The rough stone wall and feature timber ceiling in the living area lead to an indirect division between the living and dining spaces.

The dining area is designed with dark mirrors that reflect a vertical plants wall, giving the impression of dining in a semi-outdoor space. This unique feature adds a touch of greenery and creates a serene atmosphere for the residents and their guests. The careful use of different color mirrors throughout the unit helps elongate the space, widen the view, and create posh ambiences.

The Naturalist also features a platform zen garden in the master bedroom, providing a tranquil space for the owner to find inspiration and reflect on his travels. The design of the unit is versatile enough to be located anywhere in the world, allowing the photographer to feel at home no matter where his travels take him.

One of the key challenges in creating The Naturalist was to incorporate the owner's photography into the design in a non-conventional way. Instead of a traditional TV room, the family living area is transformed into a space for displaying the owner's best work and sharing his travel tales with guests.

Locally sourced solid wood was chosen for its ideal color and stability, and the chosen wood comes from a replenishable tree species that grows quickly.

The Naturalist has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
